Miata reddit. Things To Know About Miata reddit.

Compared to a Miata though, it’s a bit more complicated. The Miata is up front and straight forward. The only hard part is transmission removal and the cam angle sensor. The boxster general maintenance is easy enough, but some things are a little more complex. But that’s just the nature of a mid engine car. Randall cowl intake: $140ish from Flyin Miata. Carbon fiber, and actually pulls cold air in unlike most CAIs. Also contributes to the awesome induction noise. K&N drop in air filter - $40. Cleanable, adds a negligible amount of power, but in tandem with the cowl intake and timing advance, you will feel a difference.I've had 3 miatas. I'm 19 currently, on my third. Do I regret getting my '00? Nope. Not at all. Not in the least. What I do regret was getting rid of it for a C20. Absolutely horrible decision. Do I regret getting my '90? This one, yes, actually, I do. Because it blew the engine, and so I had to sell my '83 TT600 and '97 WR250 to fund a new 1.8. Sway bars are another massive upgrade if you wanna keep the current suspension on the car. Many people do coilovers and don't upgrade those, and their desired result from coilovers (flatter cornering) is actually achieved with the sway bars not the suspension (mostly) 2. Car will be used as a daily driver. Wait for 18 mustang. Miata is great for cornering and are a lot of fun. A great choice. However given your circumstances I would probably chose the Mustang. The new ones still handle really well but you also have the power for when you want straight line acceleration.Vicious713 • '97 Brilliant Black • 10 yr. ago. 1: If you can physically shove your engine around in the bay with your bare hands, it's time to replace the engine mounts. 2: Mine would randomly cut off and on in a split second, fixing the wiring from the battery helped out a lot.

These are both terrible options for a first car. The Miata is marginally better from a financial perspective, while the boxster is a lot more comfortable for long drives. The boxster is going to cost 3-5k for annual maintenance if you actually drive it. available_usrname • 2 yr. ago.

If you have money, gt2554r, otherwise get the ISR t25/t28 hybrid from enjuku. They spool like shit, but it's an easy 200 whp and it fits the flyin miata manifold and downpipe combo, and they're less than half the cost of a garrett. SR20 t25 is another option if you don't mind a used turbo. fctombre • 3 yr. ago.Goodwin and flyin' Miata also get good reviews. Whichever bars you get, have a look at the flyin miata sway bar reinforcement kit. Apparently the mounting points fatigue and crack with stiffer sway bars. Progress Technologies is another good one to check into. These are both terrible options for a first car. My numbers are 1990-93 - 5500 94-2005 7500. These are numbers with hard tops, and it has to be in 10/10 shape. Idc if it has 12k miles, I don't see value in spending more than those prices for a Miata.

Random cylinder misfire? Bought a 2000 Miata, and around 89k on the clock. Both the Oxygen sensors were faulty, after the purchase we drove it back home for which was about a half hour to a 45 minute drive. Afterwards, I replaced the upstream oxygen sensor, test drove it, and it was perfect. After i brought it back, shut the car off, i started ...

An automatic Miata will still be "more fun" in a lot of ways than, say, an automatic Camry. But a manual Miata will be 100x more fun still than an automatic Miata. The Miata was designed with the manual transmission in mind and the automatic as an afterthought (an automatic wasn't even offered the first year the model was sold).

Rock Auto carries it for $19/qt plus shipping. Just paid $29 a quart at my local Ford dealer. Was higher than Amazon at the time but I had it immediately. $52.50 seems awfully high, but maybe region thing or low supply or something (or just marked up dealer). Yeah that Motorcraft stuff is usually really expensive.Yes, They are worse than the MR2 and the S2000 but those don't exist anymore. In an era where there are very few JDM coupes or even sports cars in general, I think the Miata is something special. Xanzar21 R129 M119.982 SL500 •. I was bragging to somebody about how good this 2wd sidekick was off road, when they replied with "So its basically a lifted miata". At that point I realized, yeah, it is. Lmao. Same weight, drives the same wheels, soft top convertible, fits the same tire sizes as a lifted miata, leaks oil, lifter ...I was also choosing between a base ND2 or NC2 PRHT, but the PRHT's are in the mid-$20k (CDN pesos) versus ~$33k for a new ND2. Even early NC1's are starting to hit the low-$20k mark which is insane to me. If I do come across a nice and cheap NC1/NC2, I might snatch it up, but I put down a deposit for an ND2. 2. In 2022 you can no longer spec a club trim with an automatic transmission, which is a good thing because all automatic transmission NDs will come without a LSD no matter the trim. Automatic club trim makes the least sense for that reason, so it's no surprise Mazda decided to do away with it for the 2022 model year.148 votes, 169 comments. 154K subscribers in the Miata community. r/Miata has joined the protest against Reddit's API changes. Anyone have experience with JDM engines? So, the 1.6 short nose crank on my 1990 finally bit the dust. My options are pay $1000 to put a new crank in an engine with 140,000 miles or pay $550 for an imported engine from Japan with only 50,000 miles on it. Still on the hunt for my first Miata as every listing that *seems* to be worth it ends up being a pos or something sketchy with the title (one was an open out of state title, one guy "hasn't gotten it in the mail yet," etc.). I see a '91 with 53k original miles (in great shape) listed for $8k, but he said he can do $7k ...The miata: - was quieter on the highway, had less creaks and rattles. - weighed a lot less, felt more tossable. - somewhat better steering, better on center feel. - much lighter, more linear clutch. - had a manual roof that literally took 2 seconds to raise/lower. For this reason I found myself using the top down feature far more than the s2000.Almost as fun as the Miata, but far more practical and should be able to fit some bikes with the rear seats flattened. Otherwise a hot hatch like a GTI or Veloster N trade RWD fun for even more practicality. I have a 2003 NB2 and had a 2008 NC1 PRHT and the saying is true that the NA/NB are better Miatas and the NC is the better car. NBs are easy to work on with parts that are generally cheaper. They also represent 90's engineering for better or for worse - lower cowl and doors but noodle like chassis stiffness.

A Mazda2 isn't a sedan, but it's small, lightweight agile, simple, and very cheap.Personally, if I was able to, I'd sell my Miata (my daily) in half a heartbeat to get a bike. I'm sure you know the differences between bikes and cars (freedom, safety, cargo, etc, so I won't go in to all that. The exception is on the freedom - a miata is the closest thing you'll get to a bike on four wheels when it comes to freedom and fun. This would include the rollbar (with padding), fixed back seat, 5 point harness, helmet, and hans. Running just a bar you risk smashing your head. In my opinion it adds too much risk for a more likely accident than protection for a rare one. If you are considering a Volvo over a Miata then I am not sure a Miata is the car for you.I would get the 1990 if it's in about the same condition and keep the 2,500-3,000 and upgrade the rigidly of the car. Once you get the really nice Flyin Miata Frame Rails (300$) and coil overs (400-1000$) you'll be better off structurally than a 1.8. That's what I did and it feels way better than my friends 1.8.

There's a reason that the Miata has been around for 30+ years and the Solstice/Sky were a last ditch attempt by GM to puke out more cars before they went bankrupt and were discontinued. Personal opinion but any convertible besides a Miata or S2000 is a midlife crisis car.Have a budget of around 6-7k (8-9k for a really nice one) and just wait until the right car comes along. And when it does, jump in it asap. 2. stepdad_randy • Midnight Blue • 1 yr. ago. No one should pay 8k for an NA miata, unless it has less than 50k miles.
